Power Division observes National Mourning Day

Bangabandhu took control of everything without any arms after declaring non-cooperation while enemies were continuing to terrify, this was the unique incidents in the world history, said Prime Minister’s Adviser to Energy and Mineral Resources Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury.

He came up with the statements at a virtual meeting organized by the Power Division on the occasion of the National Mourning Day on Saturday (August 15).

The adviser also said, “Bangabandhu was an indomitable force. I was not a non-political person then, I was a sub-divisional commissioner. I went to hear the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu. I am being astonished day by day after thinking the power of a speech. Bangabandhu gave every direction for our Independence in a 15-minute speech.”

Recollecting the memories of ’75, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said, “I was a class six student then. We used to pronounce the slogan ‘Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu’ after completion of our assembly. After killing of Bangabandhu, the principal of our college had been changed. An Army officer took over the charge of principal. He directed not to utter the slogan ‘Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu’, but the students did not follow his order that day.”

Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus said, “There are doubts over how we have become instilled with the spirit of Bangabandhu. He shows the world that if the whole nation comes together, no military force able to fight against them.”

Energy and Mineral Resource Division Senior Secretary Md Anisur Rahman, former power division secretary Dr. Sultan Ahmed, Bangladesh Power Development Board chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain, and Dhaka University’s former VC Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, among others, joined the event.
